After a disabled person in the house who did not manage to climb up and down stairs, a change of their environment, or perhaps even a change of residence required. Changing the accommodation may in some cases easier said than done. What if there is no room downstairs, or perhaps there is only one bathroom on the landing or the upper floor? Change of residence can also be an annoying option, if the current mortgage stay or there may be other reasons why a move was not an option.

Now with easy to install home stair lift systems, the problems caused by a sudden to meet the reduced mobility of a member of the household were eliminated. There are basically two types of systems home chairlift. It has a seat mounted on it that a person can sit and travel up and down the stairs, and the other has a stand on which a person can be put down or place a chair or a wheelchair. Most people opt for the home stair lift chair on a system that is installed, because it’s much safer for the person who used to sit on this trip.

There are several advantages to a home stair lift system. The first and main advantage is that it makes to the mobility of the person to whom it is installed. Secondly, one does not need the homes to prepare for or to change or an extra room or downstairs toilet to be built for the disabled. Another advantage is that it can be used to carry heavy loads up to, as most home stair lift systems may be weighing a minimum of £ 300 to carry a maximum of up to 500 pounds, making them strong enough to household items on transport . So the trouble of trying to carry heavy table or mattress top is more flexible. Another advantage is if one is tired and not have the strength to climb, one can ride up. Young children make a game of taking rides on the elevator and will come with all sorts of games they can play. Home stair lift systems are available in both AC and DC, the DC battery powered models are expensive, but they can be used during a power outage. A stair lift home system allows people to age in their home and save them the pain of having to give up their beloved environment as they grow older.

Even modern home stair lift systems are very safe, so the chances of falling down stairs or accidentally slipping on stairs are virtually eliminated. A home stairlift system does not cost as much as people think, and are very practical and can be installed within a few hours.

Elderly and people who suddenly become disabled due to an accident or illness do not have to make their homes, with home stair lift systems.

These lifts are also referred to as vertical platform lifts, wheelchair lifts, or vertical lifts. They are more cost-effective than lifts and offer a quicker movement from one floor to another. Wheelchair stair lifts are conceptualized to suit your budget and needs. Earlier, the wheelchairs had to be manually moved or removed. With the advent of a wheelchair platform lifts, the uneasy process of lifting a wheelchair can now be avoided. Nowadays, wheelchair lifts are available in different sizes and designs for both commercial and residential applications. Wheelchair stair lifts are available in two specifications, AC and DC types. A DC operated electric wheelchair stair lift works even during a power outage. ย Electric wheelchair lifts can be connected to telephone jacks or automatic (mechanical) door openers. The smooth operation of the engine ensures a comfortable ride. Wheelchair stair lifts are ideal for people with reduced mobility caused by old age, disease or accident. Wheelchair stair lifts can be found in use: Schools – Hospitals – Stores – Office Wheelchair stairlifts feature: – Optional remote key lock to prevent unauthorized access – rated load to prevent – 340 kg (750 lbs) – 3 Drive systems: A / C belt driven driven ballscrew, Battery powered belt driven ballscrew, battery powered hydraulic – 90 – and 180 degree entry / exit configurations – Noodstop button Highly-sensitive sensors are unique features in this device, which automatically detects when an object of the elevator path and stop block, making it preventing damage to the elevator. Once the road is cleared, the wheelchair stairlift continues its operation. Besides these, there are several functions and security of user friendly features, making wheelchair stairlifts immensely popular products. The customer can see the operation of the lift in the demonstrations and may even test the operation of the device itself. These lifts can be quickly installed and are comfortable to use. Most of the wheelchair stairlift providers offer regular maintenance, spare parts are also readily available. After determining the type of wheelchair lift you need, buy one that fits your budget and needs from a reputable manufacturer.

Founded in 1992 in Yorkshire, UK, Acorn Stair Lifts has become one of the leading manufacturers of residential stair lifts. They are privately owned and design their own equipment based on their years of servicing stair lifts before becoming a manufacturer. You’re probably interested in their best seller and I found a lift they call the Superglide their prime product. It was the first commercial chair to use battery power. And one of the main reasons they went this way was because of reliability in case of a power outage. The battery operated residential stair lift also is very quiet.

Competitors to Acorn Stair Lifts claim that battery operated residential stair lifts are not reliable and need to have their batteries changed every 18 months. In addition, the battery compartment they say is hard to get to, so you have to have a tech come out and service the stair lift. Acorn counters that the Superglide has no cable that trails along so there is less chance of getting shocked. The battery operation offers a smooth start and stop which is essential, I believe, for handicapped.

And one of the best features I like about the Acorn lift is that it has a double tube rail that the chair rides on. Heavy duty rollers on the chair keep the ride smooth. This is the same technology many coaster cars use world wide. Acorn uses eight rollers making the ride one of the smoothest and improves stability.

The safety features are very nice. There is a mechanical brake and an electric one which is in the control of the rider. There are limit sensors on each end of the track, common in installations of stair lifts, and these give the unit a gentle start and stop as well. On a normal run, the chair will come to a very gentle stop and locks in the proper position for the rider to swivel out.

On the Superglide there are two ways to control it. First you can have a tethered joy stick which you keep in your hand while the car makes its way up or down. The other way is with an infrared handheld remote control device and with this, someone can operate the chair without physically being on it.

Chairs are a big consideration on a stair lift and Acorn has a three-position swivel seat that locks into place. Swiveling just makes it much easier when getting on and off the lift. You have a much less chance of falling on the stairs when you can swivel the chair to the side and dismount.

Acorn Stair Lifts can be designed to work in almost any staircase situation, straight or curved. There is even a small model that is thin and can operate on narrow stairs. And Acorn makes an outdoor model as well. Seems they’ve thought of everything.

Now any stair lift company is not going to have everything. There are going to be issues you will find with any company. It’s the customer support you get after the sale that makes the difference. I feel Acorn is a good company to deal with and make a good unit. When dealing with any of their representatives, make sure you build a relationship as you will be dealing with them through installation and service.
